Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

SubReel ("we", "us", "our") is a video subtitle and export tool available at subreel.cc. We are committed to protecting your personal data and complying with applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data we collect

• Account data: your name and email address, provided at registration.
• Video content: videos you upload for processing, the transcription text and subtitle data generated from them, and any exported files you create.
• Usage data: number of videos processed per month, plan tier, and basic product interaction events used to improve the service.
• Payment data: billing is handled entirely by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID. We never see or store your card number or banking details.
• Session tokens: we use JWT tokens stored in your browser to keep you logged in. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

3. How we use your data

• To provide the SubReel service — transcription, subtitle editing, and video export.
• To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe.
• To send transactional emails (password resets, subscription changes, video expiry warnings) via Resend.
• To generate anonymised, aggregate usage statistics to improve the product.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your video content to train AI models.

4. Video storage & automatic deletion

Videos and exported files are stored securely in object storage hosted on DigitalOcean Spaces. Storage duration depends on your plan:

• Free: 7 days
• Creator: 15 days
• Pro: 3 months
• Agency: 6 months

Files are automatically and permanently deleted after the retention period. You may also delete any video manually at any time from the dashboard, which immediately removes all associated files and data. If you downgrade your plan, existing videos retain the expiry date set at upload time.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party processors to operate SubReel:

• Stripe — payment processing. Your card data is handled exclusively by Stripe and subject to their privacy policy.
• DigitalOcean — cloud hosting and object storage for videos and exports.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.

Transcription is performed on our own infrastructure using Whisper. Your audio and video content is not sent to any external AI provider.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Object to or restrict processing of your data.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@subreel.cc. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

Account data (name, email) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and video content is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate statistics may be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access-controlled storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
